Antonio Banderas recently revealed that he suffered from a heart attack in January, but said that he has already recovered.

Over the weekend, the actor attended a film festival in Spain where he shared details about what happened to him earlier this year. “I suffered a heart attack on Jan. 26, but it wasn’t serious and hasn’t caused any damage,” he said. According to the Associated Press (via People), the actor underwent a procedure to introduce three stents in his arteries.

After suffering from the attack, Banderas was rushed to St. Peter’s Hospital in Surrey. He was released just a few hours later after the doctors said that he was good to go. Four days after his attack, Banderas posted a sweet photo of himself with his girlfriend, Nicole Kimpel.

Meanwhile, the 56-year-old actor has starred in multiple films such as “Desperado,” “The Mask of Zorro,” “Original Sin,” “Assassins,” “Puss In Boots,” “The Expendables 3,” “Interview With the Vampire,” “The Legend of Zorro,” “Evita,” “Four Rooms,” “Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over,” “The 33” and more.

In an interview with the Independent last year, Banderas opened up about the challenges he faced when filming high-risk movie “The 33.” The film centered on 33 miners who had been trapped 700 meters underground for over two months in a mine in Chile.

“I remember feeling emotional the day the miners were coming out. Not just because of them, but because I knew many millions of people like me were watching television with one idea in mind – the supreme value of life. In a way we were all coming out of the mine. I thought somebody was going to make a movie out of this… this has a more Hollywood ending than a Hollywood movie,” he said.
