The iPad Mini 4 is now pegged to get unleashed on Sept. 9, the day when the forthcoming iPhone 6S and the iPhone 6S Plus are likely to be announced. Rumors claim that the iPad Mini 4 will be a smaller edition of the iPad Air 2 that came out in 2014.

The iPad Mini 3 from 2014 was not a major upgrade over the iPad Mini 2 from 2012. It only came with new features such as the Touch ID sensor and golden color option. The Mac Rumors report from July cited information revealed by Mac Otakara Japanese blog, claiming that the fourth generation iPad Mini will come with major enhancements over its predecessor model.

The iPad Mini 4 is expected to borrow the specs and features of the iPad Air 2. Like the iPad Air 2, the iPad Mini could be sporting a thin profile of 6.1 mm. The new iPad Mini 4 could also be coming with the 8-megapixel iSight camera that is available on the iPad Air 2.

The 7.9-inch display of the iPad Mini 4 is expected to be a full laminated screen, which will be enabled with anti-reflective coating. It will allow the user to use the tablet under direct sunlight seamlessly.

The Apple A9 or the A8X processor is rumored to power the iPad Mini 4 along with 2 GB of RAM. It will reportedly come with iOS 9.1 onboard, which will bring support for true Split View multitasking to the users.

According to 9 to 5 Mac, the iPad Mini 4 as well as a large-sized 12.9-inch Apple iPad Pro is slated to get officially announced on Sept. 9. The launch event will be held at the 7000-seater Bill Graham auditorium at San Francisco, U.S.
