Apple Preps Apple Watch Series 5 As Series 4’s Battery Defect Gets Exposed

Apple has been hit with a lawsuit over the Apple Watch Series 4’s battery defect. However, the company’s new update to the next Apple Watch also seems to be a battery upgrade. Here’s what we know about this.

According to Macrumors, Gina Priano-Keyser, a New Jersey resident , filed a lawsuit against Apple after her daughter’s Apple Watch sprung up and revealed a swollen battery. Her daughter pushed back the Apple Watch back in the slot and the smartwatch ceased working.

While Apple stated that it is offering free repairs for this issue, sending the watch to stores will not be a part of warranty and owners will not be charged for the repair. While the Apple Watch Series 4 was revealed to have this issue, the case also gathered other incidents wherein the Apple Watch’s battery failed and almost injured the user. The verdict for this case is yet to be decided.

So far, Apple has yet to reveal any official updates about the Apple Watch Series 5 release. However, inside sources said that most Apple device upgrades would potentially lean on battery life.

The iPhone 11 may also come with a feature found in Samsung phones which allows the Apple smartphone to pass its battery charge to paired devices remotely.

Moreover, the AirPods 2, which will be released later this year, will have improved battery life features due to its charger pouch and the earphones. According to Ming Chi Kuo and MacOtakara, as per iLounge, it’s possible that the next Apple Watch Series 5 will also follow in this improved battery focus.

As of now, Apple is still focused on pushing out more services than devices. The March event at the Steve Jobs center revealed four new Apple services, namely the Apple News+ magazine subscription app, Apple Card credit card, Apple Arcade gaming platform, and Apple TV. While this move allows the company to diversify their offerings as a company, the lack of complete updates for their usual smart device releases have left some new fans confused about when the next release could be.
