KEY POINTS

  • Apple Watch Ultra can now go beyond its 18 and 36-hour battery life
  • The same can be said for Apple Watche Series 4 and later models
  • Apple rolled out the watchOS9 update last month

One of the major complaints about the Apple Watch over the years is its average battery life. However, Apple may have seemed to listen to its customers since it has rolled out a new update that solves this particular Apple Watch issue. Do you know that you can now get a 60-hour battery on your Apple Watch Ultra in just a single charge? Here's how to do it.

First and the most important thing before doing anything is to make sure that your Apple Watch Ultra is updated. To update, open the Watch app using your iPhone and in the bottom toolbar, click My Watch, then General and finally Software Update.

Wait for the update to surface and tap the Download and Install button. When doing this, make sure that your wearable has at least 50% battery and is attached to a charger during the update installation process. Also, make sure that your Apple Watch Ultra is within a few feet of the iPhone you are using to update it, to prevent any possible issues.

To get the 60-hour battery on your Apple Watch Ultra in just a single charge, turn on the extra Low Power Mode feature. To do this, open the Settings app and swipe down to select Workout. After that tap the toggle beside Low Power Mode.

Swipe down and tap the toggle beside the Fewer GPS and Heart Rate Readings. Keep reading and turn on the regular Low Power Mode feature outside of Workouts. It is worth noting that the Low Power Mode in Apple Watch Ultra will only turn on when the user starts walking, hiking, doing workouts, or running and will automatically turn off when the user stops the workout.

Apple described the Low Power Mode as that which "preserves battery life in walking, running, and hiking workouts by reducing the frequency of GPS and heart rate readings, and turns off alerts, splits, and segments." It added, "this mode does not apply to other types of workouts. It also does not apply to Custom or Pacer workouts."

The Low Power Mode was rolled out last month for Apple Watch Series 4 and later models via watchOS 9 update. The watchOS 9.1 update gives the Apple Watch Ultra an extra Low Power setting to take the mode even further.
