The 2011's World Aquatic event known as 14th FINA World Championships being held in Shanghai will be concluded on Sunday, July 31. The event at Shanghai Oriental Sports Center is featuring five aquatics disciplines: swimming, water polo, diving, open water, and synchronized swimming. Portions of these championships will serve as part of the 2012 Summer Olympics qualifying.

Currently, second to FIFA in the number of members, Fédération Internationale de Natation (FINA) wields extensive influence with 202 national federations.

The 14th FINA World Championships Shanghai 2011 in China is the highest-level single sporting event that Shanghai has ever sponsored with the highest attendance and the largest scale.

The competition is being held for two weeks, with the participation of over 5,000 athletes, coaches and officials from more than 180 countries. In addition, about 1,500 correspondents both from home and abroad will cover the event from the site.
