Although Paul Wesley and Phoebe Tonkin seemed like they were officially back together following their March break up, it looks like the couple may have split once again.

On Wednesday, the Australian actress celebrated her 28th birthday, and while she received well wishes from famous friends like Teresa Palmer and Bella Heathcote, Wesley was notably silent on his social media accounts and did not acknowledge the star’s birthday.

Upon further investigation, it was discovered that the actors are no longer following each other on Instagram. When the two initially first split in March, they continued to follow each other on social media and occasionally retweeted one another.

At the time of the split, sources told E! News that neither Tonkin nor Wesley were bitter about the break up. “They are still good friends,” an insider said.

“The relationship just ran its course,” the source added. However, in April, Tonkin shared a photo of Wesley on Instagram. The picture fueled reconciliation rumors when the actor called the actress “Babes” in the comment section. By May, the couple was spotted holding hands and all seemed well in their relationship.

In the July issue of Elle Australia, Tonkin even gushed over her relationship with Wesley, seemingly confirming their reconciliation. “My partner is incredibly well-versed. He grew up with three sisters so he’s definitely been educated about women firsthand!” the star told the publication.

The actress, who also praised her father, Nicholas Tonkin, for being another supportive man in her life, told the publication that she was grateful to have a stable support system. “I’m lucky that all the men in my life are well-read and educated and they know what kind of issues women and minorities are facing around the world,” she said.

Although the interview suggested that the couple was on good terms, Wesley’s recent interview hinted that he was taking a step back from certain things.

During an interview with TV Guide, the actor shut down rumors that he would be making a cameo appearance on his girlfriend’s show, “The Originals.” The series is a spinoff of the show Wesley used to star in, “The Vampire Diaries.”

When asked if his character Stefan Salvatore would appear on the series, Wesley revealed it wasn’t likely. “I don’t think so. I think Stefan has been laid to rest ... I’m trying to sort of do the opposite of what I’ve being doing for eight years for the most part,” he explained.

“I don’t think I’ll be doing a supernatural show anytime soon, that’s for sure. I’m trying to branch out and do different things,” he stated.

In “TVD,” Wesley’s character died at the end in order to save the ones he loved, and even though the series is known for bringing people back from the dead, it looks like the actor is more than certain his character won’t be resurrected.

Neither Tonkin nor Wesley has commented on the status of their relationship. The last time the actress posted about her boyfriend was in April whereas the actor’s most recent post of the two dates back to early December.
