Although her TV show, “Modern Family,” missed out on breaking the record for outstanding comedy series Emmy wins, it was still a memorable night for star Ariel Winter. While walking the red carpet, the actress sported her new post-surgery look and revealed that the next step in her life may have nothing to do with acting.

Speaking to E! Online at the 2015 Emmys red carpet, the 17-year-old revealed that she is planning to go to college when the time comes and will be applying to a whopping 15 schools in November. However, before fans of her character Alex on “Modern Family” start to freak out, this doesn’t mean that she’s going to be leaving the hit ABC series.

“I’m 99 percent sure I’m going to go in California, but I wanted to apply anyway,” she said. “I still want to do my work, because I love my work, and be close to my family and the family I care about.”

It makes sense for the actress to have a special attachment to her “Modern Family” co-stars now that they’ve helped and supported her through her recent decision to have breast reduction surgery. As previously reported, Winter revealed to Glamour Magazine that she sought elective surgery to reduce her size F breasts. Soon after, her TV sister Sarah Hyland showered her with support, telling the press:

“She’s happy and most of all, she is healthy. She’s glowing. As long as she’s healthy and happy, that’s all that matters to me. She’s always been a very happy little girl -- oh, God, I will still see her as an 11-year-old in my eyes. She’s really like my little sister.”

As Us Weekly reports, Winter hit the 67th Annual Primetime Emmys red carpet in a strapless, floor length, red silk crepe by designer Romona Keveza with her boyfriend Laurent Claude Gaudette. Prior to the event, Winter expressed her excitement to make a fashionable public appearance with her new body-type, especially now that she isn’t limited to certain sizes and cuts.

Fans can see both Winter and Hyland re-join the rest of the Emmy-nominated cast when the show returns for Season 7 on Sept. 23.
