"Arrow" character Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) will discover that Capt. Lance (Paul Blackthorne, not pictured) has been lying to him since he returned to Star City in episode 4. CW

It looks like fans of the CW’s breakout superhero hit “Arrow” will be treated to an emotionally wrought episode next week as the team deals with the fallout of their recent bold life or death move. With mystical forces working against the vigilantes from Star City, Season 4, episode 4, may see family drama finally get the best of them.

After last week’s episode saw Laurel (Katie Cassidy) and Thea (Willa Holland) tamper with forces beyond their comprehension, they’ll be forced to bring the resulting consequence back to the city. The two roommates brought Laurel’s sister Sara (Caity Lotz), who had been dead for about two years, to Thea’s father Malcolm (John Barrowman) who reluctantly agreed to dip her in the Lazarus Pit and bring her back to life. Unfortunately, life or death magic is a pretty complicated thing. When Sara came back, she was out of her mind and just an animal-like version of her former self. While Laurel is convinced that this condition is temporary, Thea and Malcolm know different. Even if the audience knows that Sara will eventually be well enough to co-star in “Legends of Tomorrow” in 2016, for all intents and purposes, she’s a shell of her former self right now. The episode’s title alone hints at the mood of those who discover what Laurel has brought back -- “Beyond Redemption.”

According to a teaser clip for episode 4, the real person that will struggle with Sara’s return is, obviously, her father, Captain Quentin Lance (Paul Blackthorne). While he’s got every reason to be upset with what Laurel did, he doesn’t really have the right. After all, it’s not like he hasn’t been keeping his own secrets so far in Season 4. It was revealed in the first episode that Captain Lance has been working closely with the show’s new principal villain Damien Darhk (Neal McDonough) for an unknown purpose. Fortunately, episode 4 will see that secret come out. The teaser clip also shows the moment that Oliver (Stephen Amell) discovers Lance’s deception, which leads to an unusual confrontation, according to the episode’s official TV Guide synopsis.

“Laurel deals with the repercussions of taking Sara to Nanda Parbat," reads the episode summary. "Meanwhile, Oliver asks Capt. Lance for a favor and is surprised at what he finds out.”

“Arrow” episode 4 airs Wednesday, Oct. 28, at 8 p.m. EDT on The CW.
