Arrow Season 5 Netflix release date
“Arrow” fans will be able to watch Oliver (Stephen Amell) and Felicity’s (Emily Bett Rickards) Season 5 adventures on Netflix just a week after the finale. The CW

“Arrow” Season 5 will wrap up with Wednesday’s epic finale, and luckily, The CW doesn’t wait long to release their shows on Netflix. Oliver Queen and his team will be on the streaming giant just a week after the finale.

Netflix will release “Arrow” Season 5 to subscribers on Thursday, June 1. All 23 episodes of the DC Comics superhero drama will be available to stream. Those who geek out over special features like commentaries and deleted scenes, however, will have to wait until the season is released on Blu-ray and DVD later this year.

“Arrow” Season 5 kicked off with Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) missing much of his team. Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) eventually convinces Ollie that they need help. They recruit a few vigilantes, but not all of them can be trusted. Prometheus, the Green Arrow’s new nemesis, has eyes everywhere. The seemingly all-knowing villain will make it even more difficult for Oliver to balance his double life as the mayor of Star City and the Green Arrow.

Season 5 once again takes viewers into Oliver’s years away from home. In his fifth year, the former rich playboy joins the Russian Bratva, and viewers finally learn how exactly he returned to the island. After Season 5, the flashbacks to Oliver’s missing years will finally be over.

Netflix subscribers who love the Arrowverse have plenty to add to their queue. “Legends of Tomorrow” Season 2 is already available to stream, and its sister shows will have their newest seasons released next week. “Supergirl” Season 2 hits Netflix May 30, and “The Flash” Season 3 will be released on May 31. That will make it easy for fans to enjoy all of the “Arrow” crossovers.

The epic “Invasion!” crossover connected all four shows last winter, and smaller crossovers have followed. “Arrow” fans might be particularly interested in Felicity’s appearance in “Legends of Tomorrow” Season 2, episode 16. Damien Darhk (Neal McDonough) and Malcolm Merlyn (Legends of Tomorrow) also run into Sara (Caity Lotz) and her team quite a bit in Season 2.

With so many TV shows being made for DC Comics fans, it’s easy to see why some fans will need to catch up on Netflix. The selection will only get bigger next year. “Black Lightning” will join the family of CW/DC dramas. It follows Jefferson Pierce (Cress Williams), a man who can control lightning. He left the vigilante life behind after realizing how much it affected his family and he settled down as a principal. However, when gang violence rises, he knows his superhero alter ego must return. “Black Lightning” premieres in 2018 on the CW.

Though the show is a DC Comics show on the CW, it isn’t actually part of the Arrowverse. “We do not aim to do a five-way crossover,” CW President Mark Pedowitz told Entertainment Weekly. “Black Lightning, at this time, is not part of the Arrowverse. It is a separate situation. But there will be a big fourth quarter crossover with all four of the shows that are on in the fall.”
