Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has announced he is ready to take on his ex-team mate Cesc Fabregas, if the Gunners are drawn against Barcelona in the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League.

The banter was started by Fabregas ahead of the England-Spain clash at Wembley, when the Spaniard tweeted: What a great stadium Wembley is. Can't wait for tomorrow's game. Shame @JackWilshere is not playing so i won't be able to nutmeg him.

Wilshere, however, took the joke in good spirit and responded by tweeting: @cesc4official haha don't lie you use to hate playing against me in training! Just wait Arsenal V barca champions league! Wilshere v Cesc ;).

Arsenal fans, however, will hope to avoid such a confrontation as the head-to-head record between the two clubs are not very favorable for the English side. The club's last two European match-ups against Barca have resulted in defeats at the Nou Camp.

Fabregas joined Barcelona last summer, after spending eight seasons with the Gunners.
