Premier League club Arsenal could receive something of a shock, if they should attempt to lure French club Lille's Belgian attacker, Eden Hazard, in January. It is now believed that their league rivals, Manchester City, are preparing an ambitious bid designed to beat the Gunners to the player.

Hazard's good form in Ligue 1 has made him one of the more sought-after players in Europe. Arsenal was, previously, linked to the player (over the summer). However, they were eventually forced to give up on the player.

Hazard, 20, has also claimed this is his final season at Lille and the French club will grant him his wish to leave. The club has softened their stance after the player publicly made it clear he wished to pursue his career elsewhere in Europe.

According to a report by France Football, Manchester City have proposed a deal for the player that will see the English side pay for the player and also let him stay with Lille on loan for the rest of the season. This decision, City must be hoping, could lead both club and player to favor their bid.

City is expected to offer a fee of around £30 million for Hazard, according to a Talksport report.
