According to new reports, English Premier League club, Arsenal, have targeted Beligan Pro League club Anderlecht's Argentine midfield enforcer, Lucas Biglia and are looking to sign the player as soon as possible.

Recent reports suggest that Biglia, who arrived in Belgium when he was just 20, is looking for a more challenging European prospect and help secure his place in the Argentine national team. He has been with his current club for five years.

The north London club, managed by Arsene Wenger, was previously linked with the player but the boss' reluctance to spend too much money in the transfer markets got the better of the situation and a deal failed to materialize. Now, however, Wenger has re-ignited his interest in the midfielder and an attractive price tag of £8 million could make any deal a real possibility.

Wenger will hope that Biglia, if he doess arrive, will provide an added sting to the central defensive positions, which are currently manned by Cameroon international Alex Song. Youngsters like Frances Coquelin and Emmanuel Frimpong are available but they lack the required experience and Frenchman Abou Diaby is suffering from long-term injuries.

Anderlecht are currently topping their domestic league, after losing the the title to Genk last term, according to a Caughtoffside report.
