Arsenal are unlikely to sign Brek Shea permanently, according to the FC Dallas star, despite the player agreeing to train with Arsene Wenger's side and prove his worth.

The 21-year-old US international has been given the chance to train with the Arsenal squad, under the watchful eyes of Wenger, during the MLS off-season and it seemed the Gunners had beaten the Manchester clubs to signing the highly rated youngster.

Wenger is believed to be interested in signing the player for his reserve side although he faces a stumbling block in that it is unclear whether the agreement with FC Dallas allows a move.

Shea himself believes he will stay with Dallas and that he isn't, as yet, ready for a permanent move to the Emirates.

I got a call one day and was offered the chance to go and train during the break, Shea said, according to Skysports.com. I thought it was cool and I accepted - it was as easy as that.

Arsene Wenger said he wanted the best players even in training. This is a great opportunity for me even if it is only for a short while.

I am very excited to train with players of great quality, some of which are the best in the world. Rubbing shoulders with them will obviously make me grow. I cannot wait.

I am likely to stay with Dallas, though. I am still young and I have got a lot to learn before trying my luck in Europe.
