The Atlanta, Georgia-headquartered EarthLink provides both dial-up and broadband services to medium and large-sized businesses, enterprise customers, as well as over 1.5 million residential customers across the United States. The company currently employs over 1,800 workers and provides Internet service to more than 1.5 million customers.
The company operates in two segments, Consumer Services and Business Services. The company's Business Services division provides a full complement of voice, data, mobile and equipment services over a SONET fiber optic network in the Southeast, and MPLS-based services nationwide.
The company's Consumer Services division offers narrowband access comprising premium dial-up Internet access and value dial-up Internet access; broadband access that provides high speed Internet connection using a modem across an existing home phone line or cable connection; voice-over-Internet protocol that offers voicemail, call waiting, caller ID, call forwarding, and E911 service under various plans; and value-added services that include products for protection, communication, and performance, such as security products, email, home networking, email storage, and Internet call waiting.
EarthLink recently completed the first phase of a project to increase high-speed bandwidth across much of Tennessee. The project's three phases are being funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. The new network will provide several institutions, including education and health-care providers, with Internet service. Additionally, the network will allow smaller, regional ISPs to provide Internet service for their customers.
"The people themselves were great, made some good friends during my tenure there. The work schedule was flexible and the compensation package other than salary was great," according to the employee review report by Glassdoor.com.
