On April 29, 2011, thousands of people in London and millions of viewers across the globe waited patiently to get the first glimpse of the wedding gown of Kate Middleton, as the Duchess of Cambridge made her first appearance as the royal bride.

The ivory and white garment, designed by British designer Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen, won over the fashion press and public when Catherine Middleton, a future queen, walked up the aisle of Westminster Abbey in April.

The wedding dress with cowl neck and veil, which Middleton teamed with the Cartier Halo tiara having 1,000 diamonds, a pair of diamond earrings and a pair of hand-stitched, laced stilettos, also designed by Burton, has been put on display for public at the Buckingham Palace.

Buckingham Palace expects record crowds this summer as up to 650,000 people are set to file into Queen Elizabeth's London residence and past the dress worn by Kate Middleton at her royal wedding to Prince William, Reuters reported.

Have a look at the wedding gown, displayed at Buckingham Palace, by close in the pictures below, as a replica of wedding cake and bouquet also adorn the exhibit. Also on display are the accessories she wore for her wedding.
