Verizon's recent Droid ad poked fun at Apple's iPhone, but was shy when it came to offering a Droid release date, saying only November.

The new Motorola Droid phone (See photos here) did not give up its release date easily. Its official website, DroidDoes.com, there is a coded countdown timer for the Motorola Droid with cryptic numbers.

Here is the actual code/key legend:

Reports indicate that once decoded, the countdown timer will elapse on October 27th, 28th at midnight, which would indicate a Droid release date. Verizon has not confirmed the release date as of yet.

Meanwhile the “iDroid” commercials (watch ad below) has gone on to become an overnight Internet phenomenon, with tech bloggers already drooling over the possibility of an iPhone vs. Droid showdown.

According to early reports, the Droid will include a full QWERTY keyboard, a 5-megapixel digital camera, Wi-Fi, an interchangeable battery, Bluetooth 2.0, GPS, and a 854×480 touchscreen.
