Apple Inc. has finally unveiled its latest “world phone” – the iPhone 4S, at the Oct. 4, media event. The new device will hit the U.S. market and the retail stores of six more countries from Oct. 14, 2011.

Although Apple claims the iPhone 4S to be the “most amazing iPhone yet," most tech analysts feel it doesn’t look like anything more than a sequel or, at best, a revised version of its predecessor, the iPhone 4.

However, the really big news at the Oct. 4 event was the reduction in prices - down by more than half of last year's models!

Apple has announced that the previous years’ iPhone 4 will now be sold at $99 for the 8GB phone and the 3GS will actually be available for free, with a two-year contract.

If both are compared, the new features in the iPhone 4S are undoubtedly appealing, especially its voice-recognition software- Siri. However, it still falls short of the high expectations its users have, particularly since they thought they were going to be introduced to Apple's next-generation iPhone.

The new iPhone 4s has a new operating system - the iOS 5, a better camera, a new A5 processor, 1080 HD video with real-time video capability, a CMDA+GSM chip, Infinity Blade 2 and a download speed that is seven times better than the iPhone 4.

Nevertheless, people may still choose to buy the lighter iPhone 4 rather than spending a hefty amount of money for the slightly revised iPhone 4S, since both are quite similar in terms of designs and specifications; the only truly startling difference, perhaps, is the faster download speed.

As far as the quality of pictures from the iPhone's camera is concerned, the iPhone 4S does give one the luxury of high-definition photographs, courtesy its 8 megapixel camera. The iPhone 4 comes with only a 5 megapixel camera.
