Hailee Steinfeld
Do you think this ad should be banned? Miu Miu

A Miu Miu advertisement starring actress Hailee Steinfeld has been banned in the UK by the British Advertising Standards Authority.

The ad features 14-year-old Steinfeld dressed in Miu Miu garb sitting on the railroad tracks crying.

The ASA deemed it irresponsible because it depicts a child in an unsafe position and has removed the ad from circulation, reports MSNBC.

Prada owns the Miu Miu brand and came to the defense of the ad, shot by famed fashion photographer and filmmaker Bruce Weber.

Prada stated that the ad was part of a serious, high-fashion campaign and based on the set of an imaginary film, according to The Telegraph.

The fashion label also claimed Steinfeld could have easily moved from where she was sitting because she was not restrained in any way.

This is not the first time in recent weeks the ASA has come down on a high fashion ad.

In early November, the ASA banned 17-year-old actress Dakota Fanning's ad for Marc Jacobs' Oh Lola! fragrance, saying the ad appeared to sexualize a child.

The length of her dress, her leg and position of the perfume bottle drew attention to her sexuality. Because of that, along with her appearance, we considered the ad could be seen to sexualize a child, the organization stated.
