Google joined Anti-SOPA, PIPA Protest
Protests, similar to those against SOPA, were launched against Russia's new anti-piracy laws that went into effect on July 31. Reuters

As part of a campaign to protest the controversial Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) and Protect IP Act (PIPA), hundreds of Web sites disabled their Web sites for 24 hours on Wednesday as part of a blackout meant to demonstrate how the legislation could cause irreparable damage to the internet infrastructure. In place of their usual content, popular Web sites such as Wikipedia, Reddit, Boing Boing, Wired, Imgur and many more have posted information about how web users' can contact their local congressional representative to voice their opposition to legislation they claim would institutionalize Internet censorship and hinder Americans' right to free speech
