Andrej Pejic: Fashion’s Man of the Moment is a Cross-Dressing Bra Model [SLIDESHOW]

Andrej Pejic, the gender-bending 20-year-old Australian male model has broken onto the scene and changed the way the fashion industry thinks about cross-dressing. Last year Pejic's modeling talents were in high demand--he even hired to model in an advertisement for woman's pushup bras, and in 2012 Rejic's career is expected to continue its upward trajectory.

"I think it's quite interesting that he is able to consistently book both men's and women's shows for even marquee names like Marc Jacobs and Jean Paul Gaultier," said Stefan Golangco, director of PR and Sales for the progressive menswear label Asher Levine. "The reason being, like many of the greatest models of our time, he has a chameleon like quality."

Following his open discussion of the use of cosmetics, the "Andrej Pejic effect" has come to refer to all men who use makeup heavily.

Andrej Pejic blurs the line between male and female in his modeling.

Born in Bosnia and Herzvegonia in 1991, Pejic and his family fled to Serbia during the Bosnian War, and fled from Serbia to Australia following the 1999 NATO bombings.

A modelling scout discovered the 16-year old Pejic working behind the counter at an Australian McDonalds without realizing that he was hiring a boy.

Pejic says he cultivated his androgynous look on his own, after starting to experiment with makeup at 14 years old in order to break gender stereotypes.

The flat-chested male model posed for a pushup bra ad in a brilliant bit of European marketing.

Adrej Rejic's cover photo for Dossier magazine stirred up controversy in the United States after people claimed the photograph looked too much like a woman bearing her chest.
