Hatem Ben Arfa continued his recent rich vein of form in scoring a spectacular goal to help Newcastle to a 2-0 victory over Bolton on Monday.

Ben Arfa opened the scoring in the 73rd minute at St James' Park after a thrilling run that began inside his own half.

The Frenchman's memorable strike was followed by yet another goal from Papiss Cisse just 10 minutes later as Newcastle moved level on points with fourth-place Tottenham.

And it has in large part been the form of the attacking trio of Ben Arfa, Cisse and Demba Ba that has helped the Magpies to five successive victories and given them with a realistic chance of claiming a surprise Champions League spot for next season.

Cisse has grabbed many of the headlines of late, having scored 10 goals in just nine Premier League appearances since his transfer from Bundesliga side Freiburg in January.

But Ben Arfa's form has also been integral for Newcastle. The 25-year-old's ability has been known around Europe ever since he first made a name for himself as a youngster at Lyon. However, the midfielder's attitude has often being called into question and has held back his career.

After getting a move to Newcastle from Marseille in the summer of 2010, Ben Arfa suffered a broken leg just two months into the season after a horror tackle from Manchester City's Nigel de Jong.

But with this latest wonder strike coming on the back of recent goals against West Brom and Arsenal, Ben Arfa has now fully established himself as a key player in the Newcastle lineup.

And Ben Arfa will now surely be targeting a place in France's squad for Euro 2012.
