Arsene Wenger

With the news that Robin van Persie will delay any decision on his Arsenal future until after Euro 2012, it is now imperative that the Gunners set about improving their squad. With Arsenal unable to compete financially with Van Persie's suitors, including Manchester City, to have any chance of persuading the striker to stay Arsene Wenger must make some key additions to demonstrate the club's ambition.

That quest will start with attempting to complete a deal for the long-sought after Rennes midfielder Yann M'Vila. The 21-year-old has said that he will decide on his future next week and Arsenal will be hoping that they can lure him to the Emirates, with reported interest also coming from Inter.

A move for M'Vila broke down last summer over the size of the fee demanded by Rennes and it is now time for the club to demonstrate their determination to return to competing with the best in England and Europe with a move that will surely require a smashing of the club's record transfer fee of £15 million for Andrei Arshavin.

It would appear that Wenger has other irons in the fire, though, in the event that a deal for the France international breaks down.

Sky Sports reports that Arsenal is one of a host of Premier League clubs pursuing Blackburn's Steven N'Zonzi. The Frenchman has been a rare shining light at Ewood Park of late and the relegated club will reportedly not stand in the way of him moving on.

Though N'Zonzi would be a useful addition to the Arsenal squad, he is not the type of signing to take them to the next level and at this stage his arrival would likely cause more uproar than anticipation among the Emirates faithful.

A move that should incite greater excitement among the fans is if Arsenal can complete a deal for Montpellier attacking midfielder Younes Belhanda. The latest news is not encouraging, however, with the 22-year-old stating that he is happy to remain at the club which he has helped to the verge of claiming the Ligue 1 title.

I want to stay, he said, according to TalkSport. Playing the Champions League with my club is something extraordinary.

Arsenal may have better luck if they turn their reported interest in Newcastle's Demba Ba into a firm offer. The Daily Mail reports that the Magpies are already eyeing up replacements for the Senegalese striker who hit 16 Premier League goals last term.

Ba is said to have a £7 million release clause in his contract and could well be off this summer with Chelsea and Tottenham also said to be interested.

Arsenal may also be looking to increase their attacking options with a move for Roma's Bojan Krkic. The versatile inside forward's future is in doubt with Luis Enrique--the former Barcelona B coach, who brought Bojan with him to the Italian capital last summer---leaving the club after a single season in charge.

And Bojan's father, of the same name, has said that his son's future will soon be decided, with a move to the Premier League a possibility.

At the moment he is thinking about where he will play next season. That is his priority, he said, according to Tribal Football.

He is feeling great at Roma, he is happy there and he would be happy to continue playing for the Italian side. But there are other options. He could return to Barcelona.

He could also move to England or Germany. There are clubs from both of those countries that are interested in my son.

Which clubs? I can't talk about names just yet. We will see what happens in the next few days.

With Arsenal looking likely to be usurped by rivals Tottenham in the race to sign Ajax's Jan Vertonghen, Wenger is said to be looking at other targets to improve the center of his defense. One name reportedly on the list is Toulouse's Aymen Abdennour. However, the French club's president, Olivier Sadran, has said that the Tunisian will not be sold for anything less than silly money, according to Tribal Football.
