‘Call of Duty: Black Ops 2’ Zombies Will Be More Competitive, Treyarch Promises ‘A Lot More Zombies’ And ‘A Lot More Players’ [TRAILER]
One of the most critical gameplay features in the "Call of Duty" franchise is the renowned Zombie Mode, a multiplayer game in which players fend off hordes of the undead to make it through multiple rounds. There hasn't been much word on a Zombie Mode for "Black Ops 2" yet, but developer Treyarch recently gave a little more insight into what players can expect. callofduty.com/blackops2

Although Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 won't be released until the 2012 holiday season, more information and details continue to emerge on the military shooter's next installment. Activision has just confirmed that Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 will be receiving the Nuketown map, affirming rumors that the stage from its predecessor will surface in the sequel. An alleged screenshot from the upcoming Zombie Mode has also surfaced online.

Nuketown 2025 will be available for gamers that pre-order the next Call of Duty installment at specific retailers and will become downloadable when the game's release date hits on Nov. 13, according to ComputerAndVideoGames.com.

The company has yet to reveal who the participating retailers will be, but CVG previously reported that the pre-order deal was sighted at specialist retailer GAME.

Multiplayer fans of 'Call of Duty: Black Ops' LOVE Nuketown, Treyarch's Mark Lamia said, according to CVG. Flat out, Nuketown was a blast to play before, and we're excited about the reimagined Nuketown 2025 in 'Call of Duty: Black Ops II. We can't wait to play with everyone come this November.

The 1960's era map will be reimagined and redesigned to match the futuristic 2025 atmosphere, but Treyarch has said the multiplayer map will not be built around the same technology or approach. Nuketown 2025 will not incorporate the quadrotors or war machines that players will find in the main campaign, but it will be a model future neighborhood according to GameRant.

Rather than sticking to the real-world inspirations for the Black Ops 2 single player campaign, the decision to stray from this theme means that Treyarch has more room to bring a more unique aspect to its multiplayer setting.

The Nuketown 2025 map will be available on all platforms on launch day for players who have pre-ordered, Treyarch also said to GameRant, and most major retailers worldwide are said to be participating.

Fans are also eagerly awaiting more news on the upcoming Zombie Modes for Call of Duty: Black Ops 2. Treyarch has recently revealed that new gameplay modes will be added, such as a competitive version. In this mode, players will compete against one another to accumulate the most zombie kills, rather than working together to clear the map cooperatively.

An alleged screenshot of an opening menu from the Zombie Mode of Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 has leaked earlier this week, and it indicates that there will be both a survival and a story mode.

The Survival Mode description reads: Survive against hordes of the undead, while the Story Mode teases with You will understand everything.

It is unclear if this is definitely the menu for the upcoming game, as Treyarch has yet to confirm it, but a user in a Se7en Sins forum posted it late last week.

Some Black Ops players may also be wondering if the sequel's Zombie Mode will pick up where the previous game left off. The final stage, known as Moon, is featured in the Rezurrection map pack and debuted in August 2011 for Xbox 360 players and during the following month for PS3 and PC owners. Moon is the largest Zombie map to date, and hopefully we'll see Treyarch expand on that even further in its next release.

Fans have suggested in the official Call of Duty forums that large-scale maps such as Moon should make a return for the sequel. If Black Ops 2 is truly as big and ambitious as Treyarch has promised, more expanded maps should be included in the renowned Zombie Mode.
