A host of EPL fixtures have fallen victim to the extreme weather conditions in England. The fixtures decimated by severe weather on Saturday include Liverpool vs. Fulham, Arsenal vs. Stoke, Wigan vs. Aston Villa and Newcastle vs. Birmingham.

Arguably, the most disappointing news is the postponement of Sunday's mouth-watering top of the table clash between Chelsea and Manchester United at Stamford Bridge. A statement on Chelsea's website said, Sunday's game at Stamford Bridge has been postponed following consultation with the police and the local authority.

At Anfield, there was no harm to the surface, which was perfectly playable. However, with temperatures forecasted to fall, the decision was taken to call off Liverpool's late kick-off against Fulham.

Club officials met with the Police this morning to assess the prevailing weather conditions, a Liverpool spokesman said.

The safety of all fans attending the game is paramount and although the Anfield pitch is playable, the conditions around the stadium and further afield for people travelling to the match are such that the decision was taken, following Police advice on safety grounds, to postpone the game.

All existing tickets will remain valid for the re-arranged fixture. We will also offer refunds and publish a deadline date for refunds once the re-arranged game date is announced, to enable us to re-sell any returned seats to other supporters.

Any guests who have purchased hospitality for the game are advised to retain their tickets as they will be valid for the new date. We will advise all supporters of the new date as soon as possible.

All Premier League grounds have under-soil heating technology, leaving the pitches in playable conditions. However, concerns about the safety of supporters were the main reason for the cancellations.
