With the latest installment of Ubisoft’s popular series “Assassin’s Creed Syndicate” coming to consoles and PC soon, fans of the games will be happy to know that there also will be new “Assassin’s Creed” comics coming. The new series will be published by Titan Comics, which acquired the license to release the comic book after it had previously been with Wildstorm, a now-defunct studio owned by DC Comics.

Although a writer for the “Assassin’s Creed” comic hasn’t been named yet, a report from Comic Book has confirmed that the series’ first five-issue arc will be drawn by Neil Edwards, who drew some of the “Doctor Who” comics for Titan. Edwards also has drawn a number of comics for Marvel and DC, including a retelling of Spider-Man’s origin in the “Spider-Man: Season One” graphic novel, which was written by Cullen Bunn.

“Assassin’s Creed” has had plenty of history with comics, like the partnership with Wildstorm, which led to a three-issue miniseries called “Assassin’s Creed: The Fall” that was written by Karl Kerschl and drawn by Cameron Stewart, as reported by Comic Book Resources. Ubisoft even made and published a pair of “Assassin’s Creed” graphic novels under the company’s UbiWorkshop label called “Assassin’s Creed: The Chain” in 2012 and “Assassin’s Creed: Brahman” in 2014.

Prior to obtaining the official license, Titan actually released three “Assassin’s Creed” graphic novels, each focusing on a different assassin. They were titled "Desmond," "Aquilis" and "Accipiter," according to The Nerd Machine.

For now, it’s not clear what the concept of the new “Assassin’s Creed” comic will be, nor have there been any official statements regarding how strongly the comics will tie in to the video games. According to Titan editor Lizzie Kaye, the new “Assassin’s Creed” comic will feature a variety of new characters and settings, possibly as a way to make the series new-reader friendly.

No release date has been given for the “Assassin’s Creed” comic series, though there’s a good chance it will be out by 2016, which is the release date of the “Assassin’s Creed” movie featuring Michael Fassbender.
