Pack your bags, Norma! “Bates Motel” is heading to the West Coast. The cast and creators of the A&E “Psycho” prequel will be at San Diego Comic-Con on July 22 to preview Season 5.

San Diego Com-Con released the schedule for day 2 of the event yesterday. “Bates Motel” show creators and executive producers Kerry Ehrin and Carlton Cuse will be on hand, as well as cast members Vera Farmiga (Norma), Freddie Highmore (Norman), Max Thieriot (Dylan) and Nestor Carbonell (Sheriff Alex Romero). The panel will discuss the jaw dropping events from the Season 4 finale, as well as “reveal exclusive content from the new season.”

The “Bates Motel” SDCC panel comes just a couple months after the fourth season concluded. It was perhaps the most important season of the series to date, setting Norman (Freddie Highmore) on the path towards the events that happened in Alfred Hitchcock’s 1960 film.

Norman’s latest blackout led him to close the vents in the house in an attempt to commit a murder-suicide by carbon monoxide poisoning. He killed Norma, but survived thanks to Romero. However, Romero suspected that Norman played a hand in his mother’s death, and set out to prove it.

Meanwhile, Norman continued to have a psychotic breakdown. He refused to accept that his mother died, not even telling Dylan about her funeral. He dug up her body and finally realized that Norma was not playing a game with him — but then a blackout made him hallucinate her alive again.

“We wanted the final season to allow us to do our version of the ‘Psycho’ lore,” Cuse explained to TV Line following the May finale. “We will be colliding with certain events in the narrative of the film, but it would be boring just to recreate ‘Psycho.’”

The death of Farmiga’s character in Season 4 doesn’t mean that the actress is done with the series. The actress will be back for Season 5 in a different capacity. “She’s existing now in Norman’s brain,” Cuse added.

Fans will hopefully find out more about how the character of Norma changes at the “Bates Motel” San Diego Comic-Con panel on Friday, July 22 at 3:30 p.m. PDT in Room 6A. The fifth and final season of “Bates Motel” will premiere on A&E in 2017.
