“Call of Duty: Ghosts” composer David Buckley, 37, has signed on to create the music for Rocksteady’s upcoming “Batman: Arkham Knight.”

Buckley has composed scores for 2008’s “Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots” along with films “The Town” and “The Forbidden Kingdom.” The London-born composer will work alongside Nick Arundel, who scored the previous “Batman” games in the “Arkham” series – “Arkham Asylum” and “Arkham City.”

Getting a big name composer is a pretty smart move on Rocksteady’s part, since this will be the series’ final title and a game’s score can be crucial to how it will be perceived. We think back to games like 2011’s “Crysis 2,” which included an exclusive song by hip hop artist B.o.B and featured music from German film composer Hans Zimmer. The music element definitely added a memorable aspect to the game and Rocksteady undoubtedly wants "Arkham Knight" to go out with a bang.

“Arkham Knight” is set for an Oct. 14, 2014, release date for the Xbox One, PS4 and PC. The single-player title is the fourth installment in the series and is set to be the final chapter in the “Arkham” games.

Kevin Conroy, 58, will return as the voice of Batman. Conroy also portrayed the dark knight in “Batman: Arkham Asylum” and “Batman: Arkham City.”

“It will fit just about in an Xbox 360 if [that was the whole] game. It’s very next-gen,” explained art director David Hego in the latest issue of GameInformer.

“This is a single-player game. There is no multiplayer. We don’t have the time to do multiplayer,” explained Game Director Sefton Hill. “We want to focus on making the best single-player experience we can. We don’t feel that it needs a multiplayer element. Warner Bros. backed that up right at the start.”

Hill also discussed the Arkham Knight, Batman's mysterious and dangerous new enemy. “We wanted to introduce someone who could really challenge Batman, to go head-to-head with him in lots of different ways. This guy is definitely a formidable foe for Batman.”

The story begins one year after 2011’s “Arkham City.” Batman is forced to confront the Scarecrow, who has returned to Gotham City in an attempt to bring together Batman’s enemies to ultimately destroy him. Citizens are ordered to evacuate the town -- and Batman must take on the Arkham Knight.

This is the first game in the series that will allow users to drive the Batmobile, an experience that will undoubtedly be pretty awesome. In the game, the Batmobile will be nearly invincible -- it will be have the ability to perform burnouts, jumps and boosts -- while simultaneously being bulletproof. “Basically… nothing stops the Batmobile. It’s pretty much an unstoppable force,” said Hill. “When you think Batman, you do think Batmobile. It’s the one key thing that we’ve really felt that we always wanted to do.” Like the angst-ridden hero, you'll be able to call the Batmobile by pressing a button. You can also eject yourself from the vehicle at high-speed.

Last week, the game's Twitter feed also posted a photo of some Batmobile gamplay, showing the superhero being ejected from teh driver's seat.
