A gruesome photo tweeted out by the host of the "Man vs. Wild" reality series seems to show which side won in an incident between his producer and a snake.

On Tuesday, Bear Grylls tweeted a photo of his producer’s snake bite injury, the foot stripped to the bone in some areas, with a simple message, “Our man vs wild producer suffering from a brutal snake bite -- fighting the injury with courage.” The tweet and its tone are a bit of an understatement, considering the picture has gone viral and elicited horrified reactions on social media. (The graphic picture can be viewed below.)

Grylls, who's had several hit programs since he retired from the Special Air Services regiment of the British Army, hasn't given additional details about the incident.

Grylls will star in a new reality program airing on NBC this summer. “Get Out Alive with Bear Grylls” will be a reality-competition series where two teams battle extreme conditions. According to the press release, “The series is filled with raw, tough, unrelenting journeys that inspire and teach these teams the essentials of survival that may one day save their lives.”

The series will premiere on the Discovery Channel this fall and will also be broadcast in 218 different territories. Daily Mail notes there has been something of a bidding war for U.K. rights between ITV, BBC and Channel 4, which could make Grylls an even bigger star.
