Remembering the Bhopal gas victims
This mural and the statue next to it, in a poor neighborhood just outside the Union Carbide facility, serve as the only memorial to the victims of the Bhopal gas tragedy that left thousands dead. The city does not have any other formal memorial to remember the hapless sufferers of the country's worst ever industrial disaster. International Business Times/ Amit Deshmukh

Those who lost their loved ones and themselves barely survived, however, continue to suffer the aftereffects of the toxic leak to this day. Here's a look at some pictures of the city, the plant and the disaster's aftermath.
