'The Big Bang Theory' Season 9 Spoilers: Episode 7 Sneak Peek Reveals Sheldon's Plan To Make Amy Jealous [VIDEO]

Sheldon Cooper (Jim Parsons) might be the world's biggest "Star Trek" fan. So, when Adam Nimoy (playing himself) approaches the scientist in episode 7 of "The Big Bang Theory" Season 9, "The Spock Resonance," for an interview for a documentary about his father -- Sheldon's hero and "Stark Trek" star Leonard Nimoy -- Sheldon jumps at the chance. However, Sheldon's reverence for Spock, Nimoy's iconic "Star Trek" character, is not the only reason for his participation. A sneak-peek video for the episode reveals that Sheldon has ulterior motives for the interview stemming from his breakup with Amy (Mayim Bialik).

In the teaser video, Sheldon is all dressed up for his interview when he stops to make a phone call to Amy.

"I know we're broken up, but I thought you might be interested in watching me get interviewed for a documentary about Mr. Spock," says Sheldon, after getting his ex-girlfriend's voicemail.

Clearly, he is feeling pretty special to be chosen for the documentary and wants to make Amy jealous, which he makes clear when instructing her to laugh at his lame "Spockumentary" pun.

"Try to laugh like you're are hearing [the joke] for the first time," instructs Sheldon. "You know, hysterically, and with a tinge of sadness that I'm no longer in your life."

Adam Nimoy and "Star Trek" actor Will Wheaton seem to think Sheldon is funny at least. When the pair show up for the interview, Wheaton reveals that Sheldon's quirky behavior was the reason they asked him to be a part of the movie.

"What did I tell you," Wheaton asks Nimoy. "This guy is gold!"

Sheldon has reason to be jealous of Amy. In episode 6, Penny (Kaley Cuoco) and Bernadette (Melissa Rauch) pushed Amy to try a new app to get back in the dating game. By the end of the episode she had already lined up a hot date with a mystery man named Dave, played by guest star Stephen Merchant. That might be too much for poor Sheldon to take.

Will Amy show up for Sheldon's interview? Will he be able to handle the news that she has a date? Fans will have to wait to find out. "The Big Bang Theory" airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. EST on CBS.
