“Big Brother” Season 19 evictee Matt Clines did not reach a resounding applause when he left the house on Thursday night.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, fans of the hit CBS reality TV competition noted how rude he was for purposely breaking some house rules just so he could earn a penalty vote. Critics also claimed that he did not really play the game and just became a pawn week after week.

During his interview with the publication, Clines said that being chill was part of his plan to stay in the house longer. “I did exactly what I wanted to do. My game plan was to not make any big moves and chill. There were a lot of players this season I felt overplayed the game and got themselves into a lot of trouble. I was one move away from final seven and if I did that I would have made final six. For me it was the best gameplay,” he explained.

Following his conversation with “Big Brother” host Julie Chen on Thursday night, Clines agreed that he gave up his chance at bringing home $500,000 for a girl he just met 70 plus days ago. He and Raven Walton were one of the three showmances this season and were the one that was torn apart last.

Talking about his plans with Walton after “Big Brother” Season 19 jury, Clines said, “We’re definitely going to hang out. We have pretty cool plans set up and we’ll see what happens! Impossible to tell right now but we’ll have to see after the show,” he shared.

Meanwhile, Clines also opened up to TV Guide about Jason Dent’s shocking betrayal of trust. The latter originally said that Clines and Walton were just pawns so he could backdoor Kevin Schlehuber. But following last week’s Power of Veto (POV) ceremony, Dent decided to keep the nominations the same.

“I wasn’t really mad… I was just upset at his decision. But as far as game moves, he played it very well. I was upset about the way he handled it… But we’re still friends. It’s a game and we’ll still be friends afterwards,” he said.

“Big Brother” Season 19 airs Sundays, Wednesdays and Thursdays on CBS.
