‘Big Little Lies’
Are Madeline (Reese Witherspoon), Jane (Shailene Woodley) and Celeste (Nicole Kidman) involved in a murder in “Big Little Lies” Season 1? HBO

“Big Little Lies” Season 1 is set to premiere on HBO this month, but even before the pilot is released, there are already some rumors suggesting that a major character will be killed off.

According to Spoiler TV, the new series that stars Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman and Shailene Woodley will follow the lives of three mothers of first graders who seemingly have perfect lives. But a shocking twist will see them being involved in a murder.

“Big Little Lies” is based on Liane Moriarty’s bestselling book of the same name. It is executive produced by Witherspoon, Kidman, Per Saari, Gregg Feinberg and more. The seven-episode series is directed by Jean-Marc Vallee.

HBO has also released a description for each of the three characters. Witherspoon will play the role of Madeline Martha Mackenzie, a woman who has good intentions. She is energetic and compulsive, and this is what will link her to the murder. Kidman will play the role of Celeste Wright, the envy of her peers because she is very beautiful, has the perfect husband and is blessed with twins. Woodley will play the role of Jane, a single mom of modest means and a mysterious past.

Meanwhile, the network has dropped a teaser for “Big Little Lies” Season 1. In the first promo, titled “The War Is On,” Madeline, Celeste and Jane can be seen talking to each other while waiting for their kids in school. The next scene is followed by Celeste having sex on the kitchen counter, and Jane jogging and being ridiculed by other people as she walks past them. Toward the end of the teaser, a gun is fired, and the three leads appear to be shocked by news that someone has died.

“Big Little Lies” Season 1 will premiere on HBO on Feb. 19.
