‘Big Little Lies’
Nicole Kidman recently clarified that there is still no concrete plan for “Big Little Lies” Season 2. HBO

“Big Little Lies” star Nicole Kidman may have just disappointed fans of the HBO series.

While speaking with Ewan McGregor for Variety’s “Actors on Actors,” the actress said that a second season is not guaranteed for the limited series. “It was a book so it was pretty finite. We got the taste for it, so we’re like, ‘Oh, what a pity.’ You never know, you always hope, but there’s no story, there’s absolutely no prospects right now,” she said.

“Big Little Lies” was a breakout series for HBO. Based on the novel written by Liane Moriarty, the show followed the lives of a group of women and their children who are connected to each other because their children go to the same school. At the beginning of the show, not all of the women were good friends. But the series ended with all of them coming together after the death of Celeste’s (Kidman) husband, Perry (Alexander Skargsgard).

After the series wrapped up in April, there were rumors that a second season could be a go. Cast member Reese Witherspoon also hinted on the possibility via a post on her Instagram account. Even Moriarty confirmed that HBO reached out to her to come up with a story for Season 2. However, she clarified that her novel won’t have part two.

Meanwhile, Kidman told Entertainment Weekly that if Season 2 will be a go, it could focus more on Zoe Kravitz’s character, Bonnie. The latter was the one responsible for killing Perry after she pushed him down the stairs. “The backstory of Bonnie is complicated, and not fully explored, which is probably why we need to do a Season 2,” she said.

“We don’t have plans for Season 2, but the beauty of this is there are so many deep stories here that are ripe for mining. There are so many different ways to go with all of these women. This is such a small portion of their lives, but I love how people have connected to them in such a deep way,” she concluded.

“Big Little Lies” Season 1 had a total of seven episodes. It also starred Laura Dern and Shailene Woodley.
