Bill Clinton Trolls Donald Trump 'Bugging' Claims In Tweet

Former President Bill Clinton appeared to be trolling President Donald Trump on Twitter Sunday while simultaneously promoting a new exhibit at the Clinton Presidential Center. The tweet seemingly poked fun at President’s Trump’s controversial claims that the Obama administration ordered wiretapping of the Trump Tower in New York City prior to his November election victory — claims that have repeatedly be deemed false.

Pictured alongside a larger-than-life praying mantis, Clinton tweeted, “BREAKING: We just learned that the @ClintonCenter has been bugged.”

The tweet corresponded with the April 22 opening of the Clinton Presidential Center’s new exhibit “Xtreme BUGS” in Little Rock, Arkansas, which runs through July 23. “According to the Pulitzer Prize winning biologist E.O. Wilson, ants, termites, bees, and people are among the most successful species on earth because they are the greatest cooperators,” Clinton said in press release for the exhibit. “Insects are a window into how our world works, and show us how species thrive through cooperation — whether a colony of ants, or a community of people working together to make the world a better place.”

Despite obvious nods to the Clinton foundation’s newest temporary installation, the apparent slight toward President Trump was not lost on Clinton’s Twitter audience.

Following investigations into President Trump’s March 4 claims that former President Barack Obama ordered the wiretap, the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee said in a March 15 statement that there was no evidence to support the allegation.

“We don't have any evidence that that took place,” Rep. Devin Nunes, R-Calif., told reporters at a news conference in Washington. “I don't think there was an actual tap of Trump Tower.” In a March 4 statement, Kevin Lewis, a spokesman for the former President Obama, called the claims “simply false.”
