On Sunday night, some of music’s biggest stars gathered in the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas for the 2017 Billboard Music Awards. While the ceremony, which aired live on ABC, may have been short on awards presentations, there was no shortage of performances. From Celine Dion and Cher to Drake and Nicki Minaj, here are the eight best performances of the night:

1. Celine Dion - “My Heart Will Go On”

Celebrating the 20th anniversary of the film “Titanic,” legendary singer Celine Dion delivered the best performance of the night. Performing her 1997 hit song, “My Heart Will Go On,” Dion sounded just as good as she did in 1997, proving that she is one of music’s greatest vocalist. With scenes from the movie playing in the background, mixed with Celine’s powerful vocals, the audience and viewers at home were left in awe. Check it out above.

2. Drake - “Gyalchester”

If it wasn’t for Celine Dion’s show-stopping performance, Drake would have put on the best show of the night. Performing from the center of the famous Bellagio fountains in Las Vegas, the “More Life” rapper was surrounded by flames, water and fireworks as he rapped the song “Gyalchester.”

3. Lorde - “Greenlight”

Whenever Lorde performs, she seems to never have a care in the world, and that’s exactly how the New Zealand singer looked on Sunday night. Lorde’s performance was set in a makeshift karaoke lounge and featured the artist singing along to her song “Greenlight” as the lyrics scrolled on an old television.

4. Miley Cyrus - “Malibu”

With her new stripped-down look, Miley Cyrus gave the live debut of her latest single, “Malibu.” Gone were the pasties and unicorn onesies. Instead, Miley sported a white top with white shorts, cowboy boots and a cowboy hat. While many music fans know the singer has a great voice, Cyrus really showed off her vocals on Sunday night, bringing herself to tears as the song ended.

5. Julia Michaels - “Issues”

Julia Michaels may not be as big a star as the other performers of the night, but after her performance of “Issues” at the Billboard Music Awards, the singer may have a new set of fans. Keeping things simple, Michaels let her vocals take center stage as she gave a live rendition of her song that sounded like a studio recording.

6. Cher - “Believe” And “Turn Back Time”

The winner of the night’s icon award, Cher proved why she was deserving of the award. The 71-year-old took the stage for two songs, performing her 1999 hit, “Believe,” and following it up with “Turn Back Time” -- complete with the sheer mesh leotard.

7. Nicki Minaj With Jason Derulo, David Guetta And Lil Wayne - “No Frauds,” “Light My Body Up,” “Swalla” And “Regret In Your Tears”

Nicki Minaj opened the 2017 Billboard Music Awards with a nine-minute medley and got some help from her friends. While the opening of the performance featured a few of Minaj’s classics, the rapper actually performed her latest tracks, including, “No Frauds” with Lil Wayne and “Regret In Your Tears.”

8. Ed Sheeran - “Castle On The Hill”

Performances from remote locations are usually hit or miss, and while Sheeran’s performance didn’t steal the show, he did perform a perfect rendition of his hit song, “Castle on the Hill.”
