Most television series are ending this week for their midseason breaks, but NBC’s “The Blacklist” wrapped for 2014 weeks ago with an action-packed fall finale on Nov. 10. Since then, fans have been clamoring for answers to many of the season’s biggest questions as they await for the show's post-Super Bowl special return on Feb. 1. Thankfully, details are starting to surface about what will go down in the Season 2 midseason premiere.

“The Blacklist” will start 2015 with a bang, according to TV Guide, who got the scoop that Red (James Spader) will be kidnapped in the beginning of the episode. However, in typical Red fashion his kidnapping might not be against his will. Apparently, he may have let himself get captured to get closer to the episode’s villain, who will be played by Ron Perlman (“Sons of Anarchy”). Red has used this tactic before, most notably in the Season 2 premiere to get face-to-face with one of Berlin’s (Peter Stormare) contacts.

As for the big lingering questions from the fall finale, fans should not expect any answers right away as TV Guide reports that the midseason premiere will be a largely stand-alone episode. The finale revealed that Red had been meeting with Tom (Ryan Eggold) behind Liz’s (Megan Boone) back. Plus, fans are still wondering what the connection is between Liz and Red. Is he her father?

“The Blacklist” Season 2 returns on Feb. 1 to NBC immediately following the Super Bowl. After that episode the series will change to a new night, airing Thursday nights at 9 p.m. EST. Fans will have to wait for the show to return to find out what Red has up his sleeve.
