Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds married in a surprise wedding over the weekend, and Lively's ex-boyfriend and "Gossip Girls" co-star, Penn Badgley, reacted to the news on Monday.

"I actually didn't know until last night, but I think it's fantastic. I couldn't be happier for her," Badgley told People magazine. Badgley is currently dating Zoe Kravitz, daughter of rocker Lenny Kravitz. He and Lively, 25, dated after working together on "Gossip Girls" and broke up in 2010.

"I'm so happy for her," Badgley went on to say. He, like the rest of the world, learned about the wedding by reading reports and speaking to "people who are close to her," People reports.

Reynolds, 35, was previously married to actress Scarlett Johansson. They divorced in 2010. This is Lively's first marriage. After she broke up with Badgley, she and actor Leonardo DiCaprio dated briefly.

Us Weekly reports that the couple married at Boone Hall Plantation in Mount Pleasant, S.C., where the romantic flick "The Notebook" was filmed.

Lively and Reynolds follow many other celebrities who have sprung surprise weddings on the public. Beyonce and Jay-Z shocked the media when they got married back in 2008, and Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon had a surprise wedding at her Bahamas estate in 2008, before confirming to People shortly after that they were married.
