Samsung Hercules IBTimes

As Apple continues to remain tight-lipped about iPhone 5 specifications and release date, rumors of three mega-smartphones which if released can totally squash iPhone's prospects, have been circulating for sometime.

These rumored top-notch phones deliver specifications which make the current breed of Android superphones look like minnows.

And while Apple is gearing to beat the Android breed of superphones like Motorola Photon, Samsung Galaxy S 2, HTC Sensation, T-Mobile myTouch 4G Slide and Motorola Atrix with its iPhone 5, the next-breed of Android phones with super specifications can decimate iPhone's stand.

The rumored phones are Samsung Hercules, HTC Blast, Nexus 4G and HTC Eternity.

HTC Blast:

The HTC Blast is a concept phone which reared its head in May. The phone sports a button less design with Hand Power technology to turn the phone on without using any button. The virtual buttons are hidden in landscape mode. HTC Blast has a 4.7-inch AMOLED screen with 1280x720 resolution. It is rumored to have a 12 MP rear-facing camera and a 3MP front-facing camera. It is powered by a beastly 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8660 processor. It has 1GB RAM with 32GB internal memory. HTC Blast weighs 5.82 oz and is 0.35-inch thick. It will feature Android 3.0 or Honeycomb. However, HTC Blast is a concept phone and it's not certain as to whether HTC will release this model.

Samsung Hercules:

Samsung Hercules is a rumored phone which first came into spotlight in May. It is surmised to be a $350 phone with a blazing fast dual-core 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon APQ8060 processor, the same chip which powers the recently released HP TouchPad. The phone is expected to don an 8MP rear-facing camera with dual-LED flash. The camera has 1080p video capture capability. The phone will feature a 4.5-inch Super AMOLED Plus display with 800x480 screen resolution. The phone is 0.35-inch thick and will run on Android 2.3 or Gingerbread juice. It offers 1GB RAM and 16GB flash storage.

HTC Eternity:

Another rumored phone from the HTC camp is HTC Eternity. However, the phone is a Windows Phone and will sport the updated version of WP7, the Mango. The pone is touted to feature a 4.7-inch WVGA Super LCD display. It expected to be powered by a single-core 1.5GHz MSM 8255 processor with 512MB RAM and 16GB internal memory. The phone weighs about 5.9 oz and is about 0.38-inch thick. The phone features an 8MP rear-facing camera with dual-LED flash with 720p video capture capability. HTC Eternity also features a 1.3MP front-facing camera.

Google Nexus 4G:

Rumors about Google's pure Android Ice Cream Sandwich version phone Nexus 4G started swirling the web last month. The phone is touted to be an absolute beast. It is expected to feature a 1.5GHz Snapdragon chip and will feature a monster-sized display without menu buttons, which are usually found in Android devices. It will have a 5MP rear-facing camera which will deliver superior low-light performance and will also feature a 1MP front-facing camera. Nexus 4G will offer 1080p video capture and playback capability.

In the light of these super-specs, the upcoming iPhone 5 with its rumored specifications seems like a minnow. Apple iPhone 5 is rumored to have an edge-to-edge display, an 8MP camera with dual-LED flash, 3.7-inch curved glass screen, tear-drop design, SIM-less design and a dual-core A5 processor.

Samsung's Galaxy S 2, the other killer phone which looks feeble in the light of the aforementioned phones sports a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED screen with 800x480 screen resolution. It runs on Android 2.3 and is powered by a 1.2GHz Orion chipset. It features an 8MP rear-facing and 2MP front-facing camera.
