“Blindspot” Season 2 recently introduced a new character named Roman (Luke Mitchell), Jane Doe’s (Jaimie Alexander) brother.

However, what should have been a wonderful reunion between the siblings ended up being the complete opposite because of their important mission: to encourage Jane to return as a Sandstorm operative. In “Hero Fear Imminent Rot,” Roman and their mom Shepherd (Michelle Hurd) will put Jane to the test, so they can determine whether she’s loyal to them or to the FBI, according to NBC.

While speaking with TV Guide, Mitchell said that Roman will have a hard time standing in between Jane and Shepherd, especially since a part of him wants to trust his sister. However, Roman also knows that Jane is deeply invested with the FBI. “It’s really tricky. Roman wants to trust her; he wants to believe in her. He has the most hope. He leads her back to Sandstorm; he’s willing to believe she can come back, whereas Shepherd is very skeptical. Based on what she’s seen so far and the stories that Jane’s told, she’s not quite ready to believe,” he said.

Meanwhile, Mitchell also said that the difference in the way Roman and Shepherd will deal with Jane will become very much evident in episode 2. The actor said that Shepherd’s test for Jane will also have a huge impact on Roman. If his sister is unable to complete the task, Roman would have to figure out a way to still protect her. In the teaser released for “Blindspot” Season 2, episode 3, Roman hands Jane a gun and asks her to shoot something or someone. By the looks of it, Jane will stay loyal to the FBI, but she will also receive protection from her brother.

“Blindspot” Season 2, episode 3 will air on NBC on Wednesday, Sept. 28 at 8 p.m. ET.
