One year after the tragic accident that eventually took the life of Bobbi Kristina Brown, a former close friend and roommate is ready to reminisce. On Jan. 31 last year the only child of Bobby Brown and Whitney Houston was found facedown in a bathtub full of water inside her Atlanta, Georgia, home only to succumb to her injuries many months later. Mason Whitaker, who lived with the 22-year-old and her boyfriend Nick Gordon prior to her death, says Bobbi Kristina's death has taken a toll on him.

In an interview with People magazine he said he thinks about her daily, calling her an "amazing influence." Whitaker recalled Bobbi Kristina as having a wonderful spirit he won't soon forget, adding that he was devastated that the world had only been able to enjoy her presence for only a short time. Bobbi Kristina's friend told the outlet that her vibe was infectious and could brighten up even the worst of days.

"I want so bad for the world to be able to experience her energy and soul she brought to so many people's lives," Whitaker said. "You could be having the worst day of your life, and after five minutes talking to her, it would change from the worst to the best day."

Although he is forced to continue on in life without Bobbi Kristina's friendship, Whitaker told the publication he has special ways in which he attempts to stay connected to her. He told People that the pair shared a love of "The Hunger Games" and adopted the whistle Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) and Rue (Amandla Stenberg) share as their own. Whitaker said he recently watched the film and couldn't help but to cry. He said he often finds himself doing the whistle from the film in the hopes that just once Bobbi Kristina will whistle back.

In his interview Whitaker mentioned that for him, Bobbi Kristina's death became real when he saw the listing for the townhome she and Gordon, 26, shared. As was reported by Yahoo, the modest home located 30 minutes outside of Atlanta was listed for $470,000 in December 2015. Photos accompanying the listing show vaulted ceilings, crown molding and high-end fixtures throughout the home. The house boasts three bedrooms and three and a half bathrooms. The master bathroom, where Bobbi Kristina's near-fatal accident occurred, is said to be decked out with amenities ranging from a double vanity to a whirlpool tub.

While friends like Whitaker are learning how to pick up the pieces after Bobbi Kristina's death, her family continues to fight a difficult legal battle. As TMZ revealed in June 2015, an investigation into the aspiring actress' death is currently underway with her former boyfriend being the main suspect. Lawyers for Bobbi Kristina believe that Gordon played a role in her death and have gone as far as to accuse him of providing her with "a toxic mixture" before placing her limp body inside the water-filled tub. Family members have also come forward with allegations about Gordon, claiming that he was abusive and manipulative to Bobbi Kristina throughout their relationship. A lawsuit has been filed, though Gordon and his legal team maintain his innocence.
