Respect your elders. That seems to be the message behind the latest guest star news for "Bones." The Fox crime procedural is bringing in a new squintern who will both give Brennan (Emily Deschanel) a run for her money in forensic know-how, as well as go toe to toe with Booth (David Boreanaz) on sports. Who could pull off that difficult task? Betty White, of course!

According to TVLine, White has joined the cast of "Bones" for an upcoming episode this fall. White's episode will air in late October, though the the title of the episode and the exact premiere date have not yet been announced. The iconic 93-year old will play Dr. Beth Mayer, a veteran forensic scientist whom Brennan and Booth consult on a new murder case. However, White's Mayer will cause some tension for Booth and Brennan. Her half century of experience makes her equally, if not more, knowledgeable about forensic anthropology than Brennan. Plus, Mayer might even have Booth beat on football fandom -- the murder has connections to fantasy football. The new consultant will have the pair feeling a little competitive.

Betty White will not be the only exciting twist in Season 11. The series also has a crossover event planned with Fox's "Sleepy Hollow." According to Entertainment Weekly, in the highly anticipated episode, which will air on Thursday, Oct. 29 at 8 p.m. EDT, Booth and Brennan will cross paths with Ichabod (Tom Mison) and Abbie (Nicole Beharie) from "Sleepy Hollow" after the discovery of a gruesome murder. Apparently, both duos have a stake in finding a certain piece of evidence in the case, leading to them teaming up to solve the mystery. Then, on the subsequent episode of “Sleepy Hollow,” an old nemesis of Ichabod’s will come back from the dead and Ichabod and Abbie will turn to Booth and Brennan in the hopes that their forensic knowledge can help them out of the jam.

As for Betty White, the iconic comedian recently ended a six season run on the hit TV Land sitcom, "Hot in Cleveland." In the June series finale, White's character, Elka, ended up in jail after punching a black jack dealer in the face. Luckily, she was later released in time to get married to Bob Sr. (Bob Newhart), the father of the man who was marrying Elka's friend Joy (Jane Leeves).

How will White fare in "Bones"? Fans will have to wait to find out. "Bones" Season 11 premieres on Oct. 1 at 8 p.m. EDT on Fox.
