“Bones” is nearing its end. The Fox series will air its final season next year, but the good news is that several fan favorite characters are returning to wrap up the storylines of the Jeffersonian team members and FBI agents Seely Booth and James Aubrey. While one of these fan favorite characters has already been confirmed to be Brennan’s former love interest Sully, we have information on another character returning to the lab.

94-year-old Betty White is set to reprise her role as forensic anthropologist Dr. Beth Mayer in Season 12, Deadline reports. The Emmy-award winning actress will play the sharp, witty and intelligent doctor who has over 50 years of experience examining bodies. Mayer first appeared in a Season 11 episode that aired on Oct. 22, 2015. It is titled “The Carpals in the Coy-Wolves.” She will guest-star in Season 12, episode 10.

White is an accomplished actress with a career that spans more than 70 years. The veteran recently co-starred in TVLand’s “Hot In Cleveland” where she played a witty caretaker named Elka. White rose to prominence on TV with roles in “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” and “The Golden Girls.” She recently guest-starred in NBC’s “Crowded.”

“Bones” will premieres its twelfth and final season on Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2017 at 9 p.m. EDT on Fox. It will feature Dr. Camille “Cam” Saroyan (Tamara Taylor) and Arastoo’s (Pej Vahdat) wedding, an epic serial killer storyline with confirmation on who The Puppeteer really is, and the team going undercover in a lumberjack competition.

Booth (David Boreanaz) and Brennan’s (Emily Deschanel) marriage will be tested in the upcoming season.

Apart from these interesting storylines, “Bones” will also provide its regular dose of grisly murders that are swiftly solved by the Jeffersonian team.

“Bones” Season 12 premieres on Jan. 3, 2017 on Fox.
