Oregon’s Shalane Flanagan has the early lead among women and California’s Meb Keflezighi is tops among men as the Boston Marathon kicked off Monday morning, one year after tragedy befell the race when twin explosions killed three people and wounded more than 200 others.

The 2014 Boston Marathon is a way for Beantown to show resilience in the wake of last year’s bombing, allegedly committed by brothers and Georgian natives Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev. Tamerlan was killed in a firefight with authorities while Dzhokhar was apprehended and is awaiting trial on federal terrorism-related charges.

Former Boston Mayor Thomas Menino, who headed the city during last year’s bombing, tweeted April 15 -- the one-year anniversary of the attack -- that the tragedy couldn’t shake the city’s resolve.

The marathon is being broadcast on Boston’s CBS affiliate, but if you’re not in the Boston area or don’t have access to a television, you can still follow the marathon’s leaderboard here. Have a friend in the race? You can track their progress here.

Early results show Keflezighi, 38, leading all men in the race with a projected finish of 2:07:48. Flanagan, 32, is projected to finish with a time of 2:18:11. The top women have completed a little more than one-quarter of the race as of 10:23 a.m. ET, while the top men are about 15 minutes into the race.
