Is Bradley Cooper reuniting with an old flame? If rumors are to be believed, the 39-year-old Oscar-nominated actor’s decision to reconnect with his former ex, “Bridget Jones’s Diary” actress Renee Zellweger, led to his recent split from his girlfriend, model Suki Waterhouse.

According to a report from the National Enquirer, Cooper’s rumored reconciliation with Zellweger, 44, the 22-year-old fashion star Waterhouse to call their romance of one-year quits recently. While previous reports indicated that Waterhouse was planning to split from her acting beau because of their significant age gap, the tabloid claims the breakup was due to Cooper’s phone calls with his Zellweger.

“Suki was getting fed up with Bradley vanishing for hours at a time to talk to Renee,” said a source, who claims the actor talked with his former flame of almost two years about issues ranging from his sobriety (Cooper admitted to a history of drug and alcohol abuse to GQ in 2013) to personal family and health matters. “Suki felt Bradley should be confiding in her about those things,” the source added.

An unidentified friend of Zellweger’s reportedly corroborated the claims and told the National Enquirer that the actress is in communication with the “American Hustle” star, saying, “Yes, Renee is talking to Bradley.”

According to the report, Waterhouse told Cooper to cut ties with his ex after Zellweger requested Cooper's help securing an upcoming project with his pal, Daniel Craig, which Cooper reportedly denied. “Bradley told Suki she was being unreasonable and refused," a source said. "Now she's decided it's time to move on."

News of Cooper’s split from Waterhouse first hit gossip magazines last week. According to claims published by Star Magazine, Waterhouse was “keeping her distance” and planning to dump her actor boyfriend due to her fears that she was “too young” for the film star. “Bradley wants to settle down and start a family … She thought it was better to end things now rather than letting them drag on,” said an insider.

Cooper and Zellweger first met on the set of the thriller "Case 39" in 2006. The duo, who began officially dating six years after the film’s release, called it quits in 2011. While the couple remained mum on the cause of their breakup, Cooper’s blossoming film career was the rumored reason for the relationship's demise. According to an insider, “Renee had to take a backseat” to his career.

Following the split, Cooper (who was previously married to actress Jennifer Esposito) went on to date his on-again, off-again love, actress Zoe Saldana, in 2012. The actor began seeing Waterhouse last February exclusively. Cooper, who originally kept his relationship with Waterhouse private, showed off his model girlfriend at the 86th Academy Awards in Los Angeles on March 2.

Zellweger, who was previously (briefly) married to country musician Kenny Chesney in 2005, has been most recently linked to singer Doyle Bramhall II.
