Despite long-time speculation the Prince William could seek to leapfrog his father Prince Charles and become the King of England (the first one in almost sixty years), it is not that easy. First, William has himself stated that he has no desire to usurp his father, The Prince of Wales, for the throne.

Granted, William’s popularity with the British public far surpasses that of Charles (and now with his wedding to Kate Middleton, his appeal will skyrocket). However, it would probably take a parliamentary statute to move William past Charles, and that is unlikely to happen.
