Britney Spears is being called a racist, following comments she made during an appearance on the Spanish morning-television show “Despierta America!”

During the interview, the pop singer was asked about living in Los Angeles and Latin culture. “You live in L.A. and are comfortable with the Latin culture, no? What is the thing you like the most about us?” the interviewer asked. Spears replied, “I think it’s very sexy. I've always loved Latinos. They make me think of a bad-boy type that your father wouldn't let you go out with.”

The remarks prompted reaction comments, with one person saying, “IDK if this'll set off a twitter storm or anything like that since it's just a dinky interview and celebs say profoundly stupid things during dinky interviews, they hardly get press/rotation unless they're completely outlandish…but I hope at least someone whispered to her, 'hey, that's a racist generalization' and she said to herself (and hopefully others present) "oh my god I'm sorry, etc... [sic].”

“The poor thing probably only thinks us Latinos are dangerous gang members, cholas or maids,” another said.

Spears is not the first celebrity accused of being racist this year. Food Network star Paula Deen was labeled a racist in July for recently admitting she used the N-word and called black people “slaves” in the past. Deen was fired from the Food Network after she admitted, in a sworn deposition filed in U.S. District Court for a pending case involving a former employee, to using racist jokes.

More recently, Julianne Hough was called racist for donning blackface at a Halloween party to portray "Orange Is the New Black" actress Uzo Aduba.
