Bruce Jenner’s mother, Esther Jenner, has reportedly confirmed that he is transitioning to become a woman, according to Radar Online. After months of speculation, Esther confirmed the rumors about her Olympian and reality-TV star son, revealing that a new documentary series will follow his transition.

“I just learned about [his transition],” Esther told Radar. “Bruce filled me in, and we had a very long, long, long talk about it.”

Similar to previous reports which stated that Jenner's six children are supportive of his life change, his mother said that she is happy for her son. “I have never been more proud of Bruce for who he is, himself as a father, as an Olympian, a wonderful public speaker,” she said. “He instills enthusiasm in people. He’s gifted.”

Bruce Jenner has faced rumors about being transgender for several months. Long hair, nail polish and Adam's apple reduction surgery sparked speculation that the onetime "world's greatest athlete" might not be happy as a man. Ex-wife Kris Jenner denied the rumors of his speculated gender transition last spring. “That’s a story they’ve been writing since the ‘70s, and I think they just keep regurgitating stuff. … It’s unbelievable that these blatant lies are printed,” the "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" star told Australian radio station KIIS 1065.

But Jenner's stepdaughter Kim Kardashian recently refueled the rumors when she avoided answering a question about his gender identity. “I think everyone goes through things in life, and I think that story and what Bruce is going through, I think he'll share whenever the time is right," Kardashian told Entertainment Tonight.

The right time will apparently be on a docuseries. Jenner's mother said he wants to inspire others by sharing his journey. Esther Jenner said, “If he can help other people with emotional problems,” then the Olympian feels sharing this struggle with fans might be worth it.

Unlike his mother, Jenner himself has yet to confirm his speculated transition. According to BuzzFeed, the “Keeping Up With The Kardashians” star is expected to speak out about his transition in an exclusive interview with Diane Sawyer.
