Tickets for the week-long Burning Man 2011 event in Black Rock City, Nevada are now available for purchase.

Tickets went on sale at 10 a.m. PST today.

Tickets are available at the Burning Man website using Paypal and major credit cards. Buyers can also apply for low income tickets which cost $160 Starting January 26.

The first 9,000 tickets went for $210 each, followed by another 9,000 at $240, according to the Burning Man web site.

Third Level 9,000 tickets will be available for $280 each while supplies last.

The Burning Man ticket sales system works in such a way that it is cheaper to buy tickets sooner.

Burning Man is described by participants as an experiment in community, radical self-expression and radical self-reliance.

51,000 people attended the event in 2010.
