With fewer than six weeks left in office, President Barack Obama is using some of his final hours this week to promote the Affordable Care Act (ACA), commonly called Obamacare. He urged Americans to sign up for healthcare coverage using the ACA in an interview on Comedy Central's "The Daily Show" Monday night, just after the White House released a video with popular actor Bill Murray with the same message.

In a largely serious and candid interview on "The Daily Show", the president did crack a joke about his signature healthcare act. "I love Obamacare," the president said to host Trevor Noah. "Where's the camera? Sign up now."

Noah was quick to respond, pointing out that many Republicans — who control both chambers of Congress and will soon have President-elect Donald Trump in the Oval Office — are eager to repeal Obamacare. The host compared it to the CEO of the soon-to-be-defunct video app Vine telling him to join now.

Obama responded with his oft-used quip that the U.S. government is like a large ship that takes a long time to turn.

"First of all, if you sign up now, you will have insurance for a year... at minimum," he said, adding the price could be as low as $75 per month after tax credits. The president listed off the good he sees the ACA doing, like getting more people insured and prohibiting insurers from denying coverage because of pre-existing conditions. Obama wondered out loud how GOP lawmakers would replace it.

"It will be interesting to watch Republicans, who now actually have to produce, come up with a replacement that works better," Obama said. "I don’t think they will."

Outside of the Daily Show, the president used another non-traditional media source to get the world out about Obamacare Monday. The White House released a short video of the president playing golf in the White House with comedian Murray, which eventually led to Obama talking about healthcare. Picking up a ball, Murray said his knee "barks a little bit," which of course led to Obama reminding the comedian he can get healthcare through the ACA.

Those who want to get covered through Obamacare have to sign-up by Thursday to get coverage starting Jan. 1, 2017. As the president made sure to note in the video with Murray, those interested can sign-up at Healthcare.gov.
