Johnny Depp’s portrayal of Captain Sparrow made Disney bosses uncomfortable, says the actor in an interview to Vanity Fair.

The interview to be published in the January issue of the magazine is being conducted by rock singer Patti Smith. He told Patti that it was maybe Michael Eisner, the Disney head who said, “he is ruining the movie..”. He added they just could not stand him.

Another woman at the meeting asked him whether the character was a simpleton and maybe gay. He said he could not resist saying that all characters he has played till date were gay.

Disney bosses had reservations about his character as they are associated with clean and family-oriented entertainment. The film overcame all their fears and Captain Sparrow was even nominated for an Oscar.

Johnny Depp is ready to shoot for the fourth installment of Disney’s popular Pirates series named Pirates of the Caribbean: On stranger Tides in Hawaii. The film will be released in 2011. The film is produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and directed by Rob Marshall.

The Hawaii government is expecting to make some money out of the filming . The tourism spot is facing a serious downturn in economy with the number of visitors dwindling. Governor Linda Lingle expects the film crew spending to be around $85 million, according to the Huffington Post. ABC’s Lost was shot in Hawaii and the final season was still in the process of being filmed.
